My name is Kristie Leach, and I became certified as a teacher in Ontario in 2005. Since then, I have taught each of the following subjects in both French & English (sometimes, during the same school year!): Language, Math, History, Geography, Science, Phys Ed., Health, Visual Arts and Drama & Dance.
I am involved in various extracurricular activities, and am certified by the French Ministry of Education to correct DELF examinations at levels A1-B2. (What is the DELF?)

This year, I am teaching French to one grade 7 French Immersion class (7D) and 2 grade 7 Core French Classes (7B & 7C). Core French students receive 200 minutes of French language learning per 5 day cycle. French Immersion students receive 400 minutes of French language learning per 5 day cycle.

I am teaching history to 2 grade 7 French Immmersion classes (7D & 7H), and 1 grade 8 class (8H). History is taught for 100 minutes per 5 day cycle for half the school year.

I am teaching visual arts to 2 grade 8 classes (8E & 8H), and 1 grade 7 class (7H). Visual arts class takes place once during each 5 day cycle for 50 minutes. (Click here to access the Ontario Arts curriculum).

September 2017 - June 2018
I am teaching Phys Ed and Health to 1 grade 7 class (7D). These classes include 150 minutes of instruction/practice of physical activities during a 5 day cycle for 3 weeks. The 4th week is reserved for 150 minutes of learning about various aspects of health.

Pourquoi / Why
Showbie?
Since all of our students are fortunate enough to have access to an iPad and WiFi at school, I use the learning platform "Showbie" to make the most of this amazing technology. If you are unfamiliar with Showbie, it's an iOS app, which means that it is specifically designed to work with the iPad, and integrates seamlessly with the other iOs apps that I encourage the students to use to enhance their learning and to complete classwork and assignments. Showbie is the product of a company based in Alberta, so it is fully compliant with Canadian Internet privacy and personal information laws.
(Showbie can also be accessed via the Internet for those with PCs or other android devices).

How Can I Access Showbie?
1) Please send me an email and let me know for which student you are the parent/guardian.
2) I will confirm that information, then send you an invitation to join Showbie so that you can follow what's happening in the class, and monitor your student's progress!
